McGee & Co. Natural Fiber Rugs

Every rug-type has its perks, and natural fiber rugs are no exception. Among their many strengths, natural fiber rugs have a stunning organic look, layer well, and are durable. They don’t handle spills quite as well as materials like wool or synthetic indoor / outdoor fibers, but they do stand the test of time with their handwoven, flatweave constructions. When thinking about natural fiber rugs, the most common type of natural fiber rugs at McGee & Co. are jute rugs. This natural rug type creates a beautiful foundation for dining rooms or covered outdoor spaces, to name a few, and lasts even with high traffic.

While natural fiber rugs, like soft jute rugs, are beautiful styled on their own in large or small spaces, they are also ideal for layering. Use a large 9x12 jute rug or 8x10 jute rug (depending on the size of your space), and layer it below a wool rug, vintage rug, or hand-knotted rug. This adds dimension to spaces like the living room. Large 8x10 jute rugs also ground the dining room, styled beneath the dining table for an inviting look. You can also use jute runners in hallways to fill the space or style alongside benches to create a warm vignette in unexpected places.

In either simple tonal patterns or more intricate styles featuring fringe and stripes, natural fiber rugs have a great deal of character and personality. Which one you select depends on the overall style of your space, but each of them will contribute an organic, natural feel to the room. The texture from the material and woven construction is unmistakable, and pairs really well with pieces like linen sofas, natural dining tables, and upholstered dining chairs. Wherever you choose to style your natural rug, it will make an impact in your space.
